HISTORY OF TAG

September 13th, 2010

Established in 1970 by five Midwestern Team Sporting Goods Dealers, Team Athletic Group, Inc. (TAG), formed as the first team sporting goods buying group in the industry. As a group, each member attained the additional buying power needed to outfit athletes of all ages with the most superior equipment available. The group conducted is first group TAG Buying Show. Gathering vendors from all areas of sporting goods industry, the TAG Buying Shows continue today as a biyearly showcase of the latest products and services from all over the world.

To support the group, more sales and marketing strategies were introduced and in 1975, TAG produced its first TAG catalog. By the end of the decade, with its members now totaling 15 dealers, TAG hired a management team to direct the future growth strategies of the buying group.
